From Last Week

I am a little slow again this week, due to the end of season everything!!! Sunday was out last church service for the season, our last Sunday School (we finished Revelation after 2 years!), last night was out last CHI Volunteers Bible Study (and we are still in Luke after 2 years). With everyone leaving, there is a lot of food given to the food pantry - we consolidate, flour, sugar, cereal, etc. into baggies for those in need. It does take a lot of time, but the final result is gratifying.

donated food items ready for distribution

Now from last week -  on to Mexico -

clothes and jewelry everywhere

beautiful pottery -
hammocks for the lazy

sunglasses anyone?

a bit of everything

dresses to keep you cool

many baskets - there were some pig shaped ones, but no Razorback Red

chopped cactus - very good fried with eggs

the inside of a smaller store

Americanos heading back through customs

Some very amazing friends presented us with a gift with the instructions to "do something fun" We are still panning to go to the movies one day, but there was extra, so I got my very first pedicure ever!!! There are many places in Progreso to get this done, but as we were with friends, Sharon knew where to go . It so so very relaxing, and my feet felt so wonderful.

finished - including flowers on my big toes with rhinestones!!!
A Canadian couple getting the feet done - many men have this done often
scraping the dry skin looks painful, but it is not
Susanna wanted her picture taken - she was very good and gentle with my feet - I am very ticklish, so it was definitely a process.

Our last Ladies Bible Study was just a time of reflection, review, and fellowship. We had a powerful study by Beth Moore, "Living Beyond yourself." It was interesting to hear what impacted each of us the most - everyone had a different answer.

smile everyone
discussion time - notice the plates - of course food was involved

We had a small project to finish - filling in the areas where birds love to get under our roof and nest. A neighbor came over one day and told us we were going to finish the project. As he had just finished doing his, he wanted to continue on in the neighborhood. What fun to to have great neighbors. As many are leaving or have left, we have inherited flowers to keep us company all summer.

Bob even got his wife, Mary Jane, whom he calls Blanche, involved with supervision and cutting
 almost finished

Even though many have left, the need here in the Valley continues. We are commanded to love one another - what is love?? Love is a decision followed by action. There are numerous verses in the Bible telling us to take care of our brothers and all of those in need. Read Leviticus 19:17 and 19:38.
