check up time

This week is a busy week for doctor appointments and check-ups, just to make sure we are physically fit. Do we take the time for our spiritual check-up??? Like sitting down and asking God for direction and wisdom on our walk with Him. Are we doing what He is asking- "Walking the talk"? Do my everyday actions, responses, and attitudes actually reflect the image that I am a Christian, a child of God? We often ask Gods help in many areas of our lives, but do we also thank Him for the provision that He has already granted us, proclaiming Him God of Gods and King of Kings? Take the time today to check up on your spiritual health - promise to do more for your Heavenly Father.

Still very hot here, as it is elsewhere in the country. Many gardens are dried, the local crops are very limited and I am sure that food prices are going to increase also. Meanwhile, we are enjoying the limited supply of fresh veggies from our daughter's garden. BLT"s for supper last night along with cucumbers in vinegar (the last batch I made were cucumbers in cream sauce). One of the treats for our daughters here was the fresh rhubarb (brought back from Wisconsin with us) with which I made a torte - the girls had not had one of those in quite a few years.

Two more doctor appointments this morning - then done for the year. We are in the process of selling our pontoon boat - an older one but serviceable. We enjoyed it very much and hope whomever buys it will enjoy being in God's natural wonderland as well as we did. But I had not realized how Arkansans love to trade - we have had offers to trade it for a four wheeler, a car, a 1989 Triumph, and even goats (the goats were a joke, but it was funny for a while)!!!! (We did sell the boat, though, and we thank God for His provision.)

Prairie Grove Christian Church, our home church,, is having vacation bible school right now with the theme of "The Land of Awes "-  Sherry Parrott, our Children's Director, is very talented and does an "ozsome" job of putting this annual program together. Vacation Bible School is a community outreach program open to all the kids in the area, as an effort to bring them the word of God in a fun way.

Whoops -a  house fell on my sister!! (cute treats)

all are welcome

We are continuing with our  small group and Sunday School classes (attending not facilitating) as it is relaxing to let others take the lead and learn from them. Every time I study the Bible I learn something new - something I had not picked up before or never really grasped the meaning of. It is a continuing learning process - I get so excited when something I have studied finally sinks in!!!

As we spend these last few weeks here in Arkansas, getting prepared to head to South Texas we wonder what God has in store for us - last year we had no idea that there would be two more community outreaches waiting for us to discover. Pray for us as we continue to serve our Almighty Lord and Savior.
